The Food Pantry evolved from a pilot project in 2019 between E2 and Fareshare
. The global Covid-19 pandemic put the brakes on us being able to continue the Food Pantry project but, as we finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, we are able to restart this fantastic project.
The aim of the project is very different from our Food Bank or the Emergency Food Distribution projects that we have delivered in the past. We aim to reduce the food waste mountain and prevent good usable food from going to landfill. One of the added benefits of this project is that people can save money on their weekly shopping bills as well as knowing they are doing their bit to help the environment.
Another aspect that is totally different is the subscription charge that users pay to be part of our service. We charge a weekly fee of £6 or £8 if delivery is required. This is to pay for the membership cost of a weekly delivery from Fareshare and is the only chargeable service that E2 provides.
