The 'English My Way' project is funded by the Tinder Foundation, EMWas part of a consortium with BBC Learning English and British Council, to develop a new innovative approach to English language learning (ESOL).  The programme has been funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government through the Community-based English language competition. We’re well on our way into the project at Cooke e-Learning, working with adults from the Asian community who have little, or no, levels of English. We’ve been supporting them to improve their language skills and building confidence in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, to allow them to better integrate within society.

Since the group consists entirely of women Bhavna, our tutor,  has delivered some sessions looking at specific health problems, touching on topics that are often ignored or kept quiet by women due to cultural stigmas and introducing appropriate words, applying them to real-life scenarios of going to the doctors or hospital to talk about health concerns.
